Nitrous newb with questions
I would like to keep this as simple as possible but also keep it functioning properly and safely. What accessories would you recommend?
I have thought of a bottle heater and purge. Is there a good controller that is externally adjustable?I will not skimp on safety but I do not care about fancy stuff that is'nt necessary.
Thanks in advance,
George
Hopefully, the MSD box that M2 is installing will have the options for timing retard and a window switch function.
Here's a basic rundown of what you need:
Wide open throttle switch. You're kit probably has a microswitch that will do this. You mount it on the throttle linkage and when the throttle is wide open this will activate the kit.
Window switch. Controls the minimum and maximum RPM that the kit will come on at. For you, 3200-6500 is probably a good starting point. Outside that RPM window the kit won't come on.
Timing retard. You need to pull timing on the bottle. 32 degrees total is probably what I would recommend for your set-up assuming you want to run a 100 shot. Chris's car took all the way to 37-38 degrees of timing without detonating on the dyno, so we had to pull 5 degrees out of the tune for him. I don't know what M2 will put in your tune, so ask and then pull timing accordingly with your MSD box.
Fuel pressure safety switch. Shuts the kit off if fuel pressure drops. These are kinda finicky, and tough to get dialed in. I would rather you use an A/F ratio controller like this one, but the fuel pressure switch is better than nothing.

You can tap into your stock O2 sensor with this unit, or buy an actual wide band O2 sensor and use that for a bit more accurate reading.
Bottle heater is a great idea. Purge isn't 100% necessary, but is another good idea.
One thing to consider is the FJO controller that Chris has. It does away with the WOT micro switch and taps into the TPS wires and activates the kit based on TPS voltage. I haven't messed with Chris's too much, but for $250 there isn't a better controller out there. It will bring the nitrous on slowly rather than a sudden hit, and you can even tell it to wait a second or so before engaging the kit to make it easy on the drive train. It will also act as a window switch for you.

The fuel pressure safety switch won't work for you, you'd need the air/fuel controller that I linked to if you wanted that feature.
The kit is pretty complete. Other than a window switch and a way to pull timing, there isn't anything else that you'll have to have.
