Default 94 LT1-upper & lower ball joint replacement

Hello all,

I'm thinking of tackling this job myself, has anyone else done this? If so, how difficult?

I have the tools I need and I've done a lot of work on the car myself so I'm not scared to turn a wrench and get greasy

Is there a procedure posted anywhere?

I've also heard to put the ball joints in a freezer to shrink them slighly to make the install a bit easier. Is this true?

Thanks

The top ones are easy, the bottom one's will require a press to install.

Can this be done with the front end on jackstands? I.E. is there enough clearance or should the car be on a lift?

I just finished mine. Upper & Lower Ball Joints, Tie Rod Ends, Bushings & shocks. Can easily be done on jack stands. I took the upper & lower arms to a local suspension shop and they removed the old ball joints and installed the new ones. I also replaced the bushings, u-joints & shocks in the rear. I have it in the suspension shop now for a 4 wheel alignment and wheel balance. I test drove it before droping it at the shop and am very pleased with the results ... very solid. My Vette is a 1985.

Did you put poly bushings in the control arms? If so, what did you tighten the upper aluminum nuts that hold the bushings in?
