I went to Road America last weekend with the MFBA club and had a blast. This year there is some work being done to make a larger run off area at turn eight, that is why there are cones there. The cone chicane was ment to slow cars to prevent going off as the mud was real deep.
I had an issue with oil coming out of the dipstick tube. The stick did not blow up out of the tube and felt seated. I had to wrap racers tape around it for a better seal. Is there any type of seal on the stock tube? I guess this means I need a road race oil pan since oil is pushing up the tube in left hand turns. It smoked the most at turn five. My oil catch can didn't catch all that much oil.
Also the trans continues to spill some fluid out of the vent, I have been thinking about making a catch can for it. Has anyone else had this with their auto?
RA is definitely my favorite track -- looks like you had a blast!
My dipstick has an O-ring at the top which seals on the tube, but not sure what year they started that. Generally, oil blowing out of the dipstick is a sign of either a malfunctioning crankcase vent (PCV valve, etc) or excessive blowby on the rings. A roadrace pan will help with oil control in hard turns, but won't do anything for oil blowing out of the tube.
There is no o-ring on mine, maybe I can make one. My first thought was a pressure issue but no signs point to that after checking more. Though I did have the cruise control vac hose split and fall off. I always have a blast there, and can't wait to go back. I probably won't be back till an event or two in Aug. I had fun playing with the red Camaro in the above vid, any idea the year? Also there was an RX-8 in my group that was fun to play with. I've got over an hour of video to study.
