Default My exhaust

For those of you who asked about my exhaust, here it is.

Exotic Muscle headers, to a 3" Dual cats, to a 3" X-Pipe, to Power Effects out the back.

Lookin' good! I'm suprised to see the X-pipe mounted that far back, but I guess it has to be to clear the tranny.

Are you pipes welded to the headers? Doesn't look like there's any sort of collector?

How's it sound, or didn't you get it running since you had that screw in the piston?

I'm looking at Pypes cats too...supposed to flow good, and I think dual 2.75 or 3" would suffice in flow numbers . I just hope if doesn't mellow down the cam too much. The raspyness up top, sure, but the idle and lower RPMS, no way.

That's why I'll probably get the Dynomax race bullets.

John,
Nice job, looks great. Any problems w/ the cats back that far? I thought that cats have to get hot to work properly?

BTW, sorry about the engine, but at least you know what it is.

Randy

The problem was one of space. I wanted to take the cats right off the headers, but didn't have the room. That's the same reason the X pipe is where it is. I had to put the cats closer to the headers, so the X pipe had to go behind it. The cats get plenty hot where they are.

The little bit I drove it there is no resonance and all the sound comes from the back.

I initially intended to put the cats off the headers and the X pipe where the cats are, didn't pan out. Space was the problem.

The pipes are not welded to the headers, everything else is welded.

The headers are Exotic Muscle, they have a slip fit collector. The exhuast shop stretched the 3 inch pipe to fit nice and tight on the collector fitting. I did not put a clamp on it because it would be a bitch to get off later, it's a tight slip fit, and does not leak. If I have any leaking problem down the line, I'll put a clamp on, but room is the issue.

That looks nice John!

Are there air tubes on those cats?

Edit: What brand cats did you use?

I used PYPES cats for the following reasons:

1. They were cheap at $60
2. I only put 1000 miles or less a year on the car
3. They are 50 state legal
4. They are stainless

The X pipe is from Heart Throb Exaust. It's actually a truck X pipe made for tight spaces, worked out well.

I ripped out the AIR system completely so there are no air tubes.
