Default Identifing the noise......

Hi again guys

I've got a noise comming from the rear of the car. It like duh duh duh duh that gets quicker when you get faster. Its not a knocking or a scraping, somewhere in between. What are your thoughts? :o

I say tires are the first place to look. Check your rear tires all the way around. I suspect you might find them to be a little more worn at one point than the rest of the tire. Had the same kind of noise, sure enough tires were flat spotted. New tires, no more noise.

The tires do need replacing, I'll change them and hopefully it should solve the problem.... It has a set of toyo proxes T1R on it atm. Any one heard of these? Any good recommendations of tires?

If it's more like a "ticking" suspect the half-shaft U-joints; you can easily see such a problem after you pull the wheel and rotate the axle.

I have the ticking noise problem on the drivers side . I replaced the u-joints on the 1/2 shaft---still ticking--Could it be the main Drive shaft u-joints????

I vote tires. I had the same prob on my Tahoe a few years back - turned out that a belt had shifted within the tire. New tires, no more duh, duh, duh!

Ok had the wheels off today and couldn't see/hear any problems with the u-joints. Going to have to wait till payday to get a new set of tires, I'll let you know if it solves the prob. Time for tire research!
