I know this problem has been discussed before. I did a search and two things seem to come up all the time. Ignition module or fuel pump relays.
I have recently install a set of long tube headers and high flow cats. The car ran fine before the instalation and fine up to today. Driving down the highway it started to fall on it's face when you hit the throttle. Then the first red light I came to it stalled. It would turn over, but not start. After about 5 minutes it started. Three minutes later died again. I managed to get it home, but not withhout issues. Just went out to start it. It will fire up, but not stay running. If it does stay running it runs rough, the minute you give it any throttle it dies. The opti was replace last year and has about 500 miles on it.
Anyone else have this problem and or ideas as to what it might be?
Plug wires are all insulated with fabric type heat shielding. The only code showing is code 15. This is the coolant temperature sensor circuit. Would this cause the problems I have described?
Looking at the car tonight, I noticed something that I didn't notice earlier. As soon as I start the car, the two cooling fans are running. This is with a stone cold engine. I'm not 100% positive, but I don't think this is how they are suposed to work.
Anyone got any ideas on this? I still have the # 15 code and the digital temp guage does not move up as the car is warming up. I have the 5 volts on the hot side of the connector that goes to the sensor in the front of the engine. I have also purchased a new sensor, just not put it in yet. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

The fans running could be because the climate control is on, and or ac is on as well. Correct me if i'm wrong on that.
I don't think the coolant temp sensor would cause a no start like that; put a gauge on the Schraeder valve to check fuel pressure when you have the no start condition.
i also havent seen you post whether you tested the injectors. Test each one and check their ohm resistance. That would help as well. Your symptoms are exactly the same as mine and my injectors were bad.

"It will fire up, but not stay running. If it does stay running it runs rough, the minute you give it any throttle it dies. "
I disagree a bad/disconnected coolant sensor will cause it to do EXACTLY that. He did not say no start. He said it ran fine till the sensor code was tossed. Do not shoot or ignore the messenger.
Code 15 is for the coolant temp sensor in the front of the block.
I have a fuel pressure guage kit on the way. Will test fuel pressure when it gets here.
What is the procedure for testing the Ohms on the injectors. I have a pretty good idea what you guys are talking about, but have not seen it discussed in the pages of the FSM yet.
Finally got the right sensor, after the dealer sold me the wrong one. Put it in tonight turned the key and she fired right up. No misses no stummbles just purrrrrs Amazing what sort of havoc a little sensor like that can cause.
Thanks for all the ideas guys. Really appreciate it
