Default ASR After Washing Engine

Against my better judgment I washed down my engine. I had it running and was selective where I put the water. All went well with the washing and a 30 minute drive to dry things out. Two hours later I pulled up to a light and the engine started missing big time. The ASR light came on. I turned the ASR off but it didn't clear the light. It still ran very good except when stopping. A couple more hours of driving and it seems to be back to normal except for a slightly rough idle. I could not find anything related to washing using the search. Any idea of what I watered down that could have caused this? Later! Frank

The ASR looks at the TPS and cruise control, pull the codes on the ABS side of things and see what's poping your light on.

Washing a LTX is not a good idea, the optispark does not like water and changing it sucks. Hopefully it's not your optispark that is causing the missing, the asr light and the missing may indicate multiple issues. Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies. I pulled some codes today. Module 1 & 4 both had one for the TPS. Since the check ASR light went away I reset the computer. One of the TPS codes went away. The other is still there. I plan to drive and watch it for awhile. Evidently I got the TPS wet. It is also idling better today. Thanks again. Later! Frank

I did that 3 years ago and I had the same problems and my tranny was stuck in second gear and would not up shift to D and OD.

What did I do? I evaporated the water, I let the engine run for a while and the problem went away by itself. I guess the water dried out.

The ASR has a plug, unplugged it, blow it/dry it and check.

try it...what the heck

A hose is good if we do it carefull. If we would like to clean grooves and areas close to connections, get a staem machine.

I used one before and they R great.
