Default Transmission Shift Cable at Transmission

I have an 89 Roadster and a 95 Coupe and found a common problem. The 89 stopped shifting, so I put it on the hoist and found that the bolts holding the bracket at the pan were loose and one was stripped. I put a thread insert in the housing and that fixed the problem. On the 95 I was looking for a small leak and again found loose bolts on the bracket. I put the bolts back in (with threadlock included) and we shall see how that works. Might want to check the bolts the next time the car is up on the hoist.

Had the same exact problem in my 91. In my case, I had no Park and was freaking out. The only thing my Haynes manual has been good for was telling me to check the cable. Turns out one of the bracket bolts had completely fallen out. I thought I was screwed again, but used some logic and found it in my driveway!!!
