Ok first i did a search found some topics and checked a few things out.. When i drive my throttle will stick and i gotta tap the pedal to get the rpms to creep back down otherwise it sticks where i press the pedal too..
Now i have gotten home and check it in the garage in neutral, i move the throttle body open by hand and can not get it to stick, then i sit in the car and press the pedal and sure enough it sticks.. does this eliminate my throttle body being the culprit? possibly its one of the 2 throttle cables? either the one at pedal or the one at the cruise control? anyway to narrow down the 2?
squeeze the diagphram (sp?) for the cruise control (on my 87 it's located in front of the driver) and see if doing this causes the throttle to stick. If it does, the problem is between the cruise and throttle body, if not the problem is between the pedal and the cruise.
Sometimes the throttle blade shaft will wear out the holes in the housing where it rides. Very common for this to cause inconistant throttle return. Thats what I'd look at first.
i squeezed the diaphram and noticed a sticking, it was comin from there when i did it... i did it a bunch of times in a row on repeat and just kept doing it and it ended up making it not stick anymore...
i now know there is a problem in there though but i am lucky right now cause its currently not sticking and i am able to drive without as much worry
