are you sure the sockets are ok? one bad one could harm the rest of the circuit...

the other thought... ain't there a relay somewhere??? I don't have a diagram for that vintage, and since the transmissions have changed, I would not be suprised if the entire circuit is different.

check to see if there is voltage at the switch... work out from there.

anyone have a schematic???

There are four bulbs controlled by this circuit. The two on either side of the license plate and the two rear side lights. If all four are not coming on, it's probably the switch. I know, you said you replaced it, but check it again. Place the car in reverse, pull out the connector from the switch. Check for connectivity between the two switch terminals. If no connectivity, get another switch. Also, jumper the two terminals on the connector. If the lights come on, your switch is bad. If lights don't come on when you jumper the connector terminals, it's either the fuse or a wiring problem.

Are you positive you screwed the new switch all the way in? Take it out again, attach the wires, turn the key to "on" and see if you can manually press in the ball and make the lights come on. :)

Heh Scorp....

I am sure by now that you know that New does not mean working!

Get out the ole voltmeter or test probe and do a little testing. I usuall start at the source (usuall the fuse) and work my wat either towards the accessory or back towards the electrical source.

Stay positive and methodical and you "Will See The Light" ;)

Ok So the saga continues... I rewired the backup lights and they still will not work they work when I push the ball on the switch down but when the tranny is in reverse they will not I think the linkages are not adjusted right any advice on how to fix this?
And the switch is screwed all the way in.
Thanks
