at an 1/8 mile track. My buddy brought his Rustang and I brought the vette. Tell me what you think of my times and what I need to work on. Remember, it was my first time ever. I only made two runs, because there was so many people out there.
R/T .7933
60 ft 2.0185
330 ft 5.7956
1/8 E/T 8.9963
Speed 76.6
Also I was hitting my rev limiter which is set at 6000 rpms. Should I bump that up a little bit, if so, to what? Oh yeah, I beat the Rustang, he ran a 10.001 at 71.23 mph. Then after I beat him, he got beat by a ricer.
Re: Well, I went racing for the first time.... (JPLT1)
Actually, by shifting at 6,000 RPM you were going above the LT1's peak horsepower range. I bet if you experimented with your shift points, you'd find that you could run quicker. Try shifting at 5,700 next time (maybe less) and see what happens. Then go from there. Good times though for your first time out. Fun isn't it?!
Re: Well, I went racing for the first time.... (JPLT1)
Very good times in my opinion. I'm yet to go, but that reaction time looks good... 60ft time could have been a little better, but you can work on it, and everything else looks good.

So should I leave the rev lim where it is and reduce the shift points? It is an auto by the way, and I use a HPP to adjust those things. I wish I would have taken it with me tonite to try some different settings. I told myself a week ago, if I went racing I would take it, but was so excited that I forgot.

60' times(if with reg. radials)---is right on the money--(it depends on track prep)--other times look fine also---with those 60' ----i went 13.49@104 with a completely stock car---but man--i drove like i stole it.this is fun----huh
Re: Well, I went racing for the first time.... (JPLT1)
Very nice job on that short time, but I think your rev limiter is hurting you at the traps.
Try again with shift points from 5,000rpm to 6,000rpm. If the numbers get better till you hit the rev limit, raise the limit. Typically you want to shift above the HP peak; as long as you're consistent, time slips will show you what works for your setup.
For an estimate of 1/8mi to 1/4mi I have a time slip posted in C4 Performance.
