Dude, just run him already . Doesn't need to be some juvenile thing. I'm no spring chicken, but don't think I'd hesitate to see if I'm quicker than a Bmr. I LOVE RACIN, street, track... whatever. But the thing learned is that there's a time and place for everything ( good old wisdom maybe, or learning over the years where the cops are a hidin ).
I was just reading this topic, I HAVE A 95 VETTE, the BMW is a well built car but if you have a vette there are tons of go fast goodies out there from the aftermarket that can make your vette faster than a newer BMW. 95 Vette is now old technology great in it's day but there is nothing like a corvette, just think of all the possibilities that can make your 95 vette a 10 sec terror, with some suspension changes one could even outhandle a newer BMW. NOW THATS A STATEMENT WHICH SHOULD BE MADE TO THE BMW GUY.
That's why my Vette is modded....I surprised the heck out of a new 911 Turbo vert..
I love my 94. I handles good, rides decent, and is pretty darn fast....13.03 at 105 or 106 and tops out over 155. It even gets 26 to 29 MPG on the highway. But my mom has a 350z that I take out and flog once in a while (yes, I am 38 and still steal mommy's car). I am a God behind the wheel of that thing. I handles GREAT. Mid corner corrections are no problem. Deep drifts, no problem. No bump steer, decent ride, awsome brakes. I know that on my favorite twisty road, including Deal's Gap's famous 318 curves in 11 miles, I can maintian a much faster speed. But there is just something about 300 plus horses and over 340 lbs of torque, a 6 speed, no top, V8 growl thru Corsas, and that low long body of my Vette that always brings me back. Not a lot of people expect C4s to be fast and I have surprised many folks with mine including a C5 vert and a 2004 Honda VTX 1800 that actually pulled up next to me at the next light to "inform" me that I chirped my tires in 2nd, 3rd, AND 4th!!!
Yeah, the M3 and 350 might be tighter and even better built, but they are not on the same visceral level as a Corvette.

My 1994 Coupe has never been beaten by a Beemer at the track (I run in the low 13's). I've even raced a couple M's in my time, even a souped up Z3 M Roadster.
Unless it's a 2005+ M5 with the E60 500+ HP motor, you should be able to take him in straight-line racing. Just practice a bit. Minor mods wouldn't hurt either, like cut air lid, removing the spare tire/carrier, and some sticky tires.
Take it to your local 1/4 mile drag strip, and bring back the numbers, tell us what you did...
