I noticed the temperature of heat getting less and less the past month.
Tonight, with the climate control set at 90 best I got was air at about 65 maybe 70 degrees. Fan works and when I set a lower temp that worked fine.
I hoping some else has had this problem and knows the answer! OR maybe the troubleshooting steps. Thanks in advance!
Probably just clogged. Can you smell any antifreeze in the car or feel wetness on the floor of the passenger side? If not, just disconnect your heater hose and hook some compressed air or a hose up to that thing and flush it out.
If it was clogged the back flush will clear it out quite a bit, but I would expect a layer of crud is still preventing the heater core form transferring heat as well as when it's really clean like new.
Maybe you should run some super duty radiator flush through it and refill with good antifreeze.
I bet on the little pice of plastic that connects the motor to the air mix door. I have to set my temp on 80 to keekp the car at 73°. I ask Gordon Killebrew about this in a tech secession. He said it was the plastic on the heater door motor, they break easily. It a $1000 repair for a $5 part, as the dash has to be removed. He said in the later model C4's that they built a trap door in the heater box and it was a 30 minute repair. Hhe recommended if I had it fixed to put a heater box from a 96 in it with the trap door. I just can't afford the $1000 for this repair.
What's your engine temp getting up to now that the weather is cold?
If it is staying unusually low then your thermostat is bad. The heater needs warm coolant to make heat. If your thermostat is stuck open in the winter the coolant doesn't get warm enough to make heat.
