Default 1996 Collectors Edition

well, i went to the dealership yesturday to buy a car that was good on gas and a beeter just to drive to work....i come home with 1996 Corvette Collectors Edition.....bets part of the day was i beleive i actually caught a dealership who didnt know what they had.

i paid 12,500 for a Collectors edition vette that had 58,000 miles on it
and is in excellent condition
i went home and looked up the vin and RPO codes to make sure and sure enough everything matched

the dealership was asking 14,900
i told them i would give them 12,000 and after doing the normal back and forth with the dealer i walked out payin 12,500

car is beautiful only problem is the engine compartment needs some attention

i must admit this
my 85 willl trow your head into the seat but the 96 doesnt seem to have the torque that my 85 does

now i am surfing the net to learn all i can on the Collectors edition before i go overboard on the bolt on's

it is way to quiet for my taste so exhaust is a must

That's a real nice deal on a Collector's Edition. The L98 makes more low end torque but the LT-1 will have an advantage one you get up in the revs. Congrats on your new "economy" car

Looks great and that CE is good in gas. I'm renting a 2008 Jeep Commander with a V6 and that thing gives me 17 MPG on the freeway at 65 MPH using cruise control. Your 96 CE will give 22-26 MPG, you see you did come home with a "car" that is good in gas

Let's us know what your mods will be

Hey, check this out, now that you mentioned Magnaflow...

I just got done installing shorties hookers headers, magnaflow resonator and magnaflow mufflers...the exhaust note is beautifull. Hmmm, let me see if I can shoot a video and post it in You Tube this week sometime...

Congrats on the Vette. I had a white 96' LT4 with muffler eliminators.

I have B&B's on my 91' which to me sounds better than the eliminators. I have heard the Mangnaflows sound really good.

Great find !

it is a LT1...it does not have the LT4/6 speed option. other then Paint/Wheels/Interior does anybody know what separates the CE from the other 96 models? I just went online to the NCM to get the build sheets/window sticker and all other related items... anybody know what else makes a CE a CE

Good looking car and great find My understanding is that the RPO code for the CE was for the paint, wheels and seats. The LT4/6-speed package was available option to all in 1996 except the Grand Sport which was LT4/6-speed from the factory.
