Default Lowering Kit Rear

The aftermarket lowering kit for the rear includes bushings and a longer bolt. The kit states that "the ride height is adjusted by changing the distance between the head of the bolt and the nut on the lower end.
Does increasing the distance lower the car or decreasing the distance lower the car?

The bolts in the kit are longer, which allows more distance so loweing the chassis.

Consider that the spring is bolted to the chassis and hangs below the rear wheels, so longer bolts allow the spring & chass is to drop.

If you want to save some dough, just go to the hardware store and get some 12" long Grade 8 bolts in that thread pattern (not sure off the top of my head), and a pair of nyloc nuts (nylon inner ring that locks the nut in place). That's all the rear lowering kit is anyway.
