It seems like there are far fewer problems with a ported stock TB than many if not all of the aftermarket versions. I have been running a ported (52mm) stock TB on my LT1 for five problem free years.

I'm using a 52mm bored and re-bushed stock TB in my LT4. I had to replace mine because the shaft was worn anyway, and I got a whole new TB for not much more than it would have cost to have mine bushed. Works like a charm.
