I have noticed that high pitched noise. it comes and goes, sounds a lot like the air blowing out the hatch seal. With the air conditioning turned on, it goes away. figure that one out!!!
My most annoying noise is the clicking/ popping noise when pushing in the clutch pedal. I've traced it to the clutch fork pivot stud in the bellhousing but to change the clutch fork and the stud I have to yank the tranny. If I am going to go to all that trouble I am not gonna stuff the 4+3 back in it, it's gonna get a TKO 5 speed. Now that pivot stud just cost me 3 grand on a car I only paid $6800 for! If it makes it thru the summer, it'll get done this winter.
I figured out my ringing noise, it was the belt tensioner. The spring in the tensioner failed and caused an awful high pitched ringing between 1100-1400 rpms. I could have sworn it was coming from the rear! To the ear doctor!
Over any kind of bump, sounded like a back of washers were hung in each wheel well. It's calipers for sure, and taking them apart soon but looking at drawings I can't see what could be in there to make this kind of noise. Well, will find out when I get inside and share the results.
