Default ECM Header vendor???

I'm making up an extension cable(s) for my 7165 ECM. I have 18" harness sections from the boneyard, and I've desoldered the header from a junk ECU to use for the other end of the extension, but after taking it off the circuit board, it looks pretty crusty (plus, the ECU uses a 90* connector).

Anybody got a vendor that will supply ECU headers for less than $100 min order(that's the price I got from a vendor recommended by "Grumpy")???.

email Paul Tholey at pxtx@erols.com, and tell him you need to buy some junk 165 ecms from him to make the adapter and i think he will sell them to you for 20 bucks each. he was going to sell me one for 20 to make an adapter so i didnt have to splice into my original harness to convert to 730 speed density.

Do you mean you are building...
1) an extension from your ECM to your wiring harness
or
2)an extension from the chip to the ECM?

If it is option number two I don't think it will work. Someone tried
it on the thirdgen board and it took too long for the chip to communicate with the ecm. Option one should work fine I would think.

I have relocated my ECM to under the passenger seat. I can get to the eprom super easy, plus the whole setup runs cooler too. Easy to change ECM too. I searched hi and low for a header connector like what is found on the ECM but none are used on the rest of any GM chassis. I ended up creating an extension of the existing ecm cable...about 80 inches added length. Works good so far. I can post pictures if anyone is interested.

Yup!

GRX -

I'd be interested in seeing that setup. I know some have chopped the ECM harness out of a junker and spliced it in, without any header, just butt connectors (many of them!). I'd like to keep mine detachable.

Actually, it's almost done. Some more soldering of wires to the cutout header, and then pour acrylic resin all around the soldered joints to keep it from pulling out when Suzy Rottencrotch rubs her bulbous butt against it...
