Default luv the new 3.07s

Got my 88 back with the new gears. It's a major improvement over the 2.73s.

It really accelerates much faster. I didn't expect such an improvement with a 3.07.

I want to install 3.07's in mine too but other things keep failing one after another. 2.56's with an auto are great for economy but no fun at all.

I think you mean 2.59. I really wonder if my mileage will decrease. I had 2.73s and OD. I would only use OD while cruising at about 70 MPH and above.

Most of my driving is stop and go. I work in Sacramento. Even the freeways here are stop and go.

I have a feeling that my mileage may increase.

Cool! I've had a blast with my 3:07 rear since I switched from the 2:59s.

Heck I said the same thing when I went from 3.07s to 3.73!!!

Major change!

Enjoy your 3.07's...cant get much better than a decent gear change.

Why did they put such a high gear in a vette anyway?

Gas mileage and gas guzzler tax. Same reason for the skip shift

What brand of gear did you go with? Where did you purchase it?

I bought a stock 3.07 from a forum member on our parts for sale section. The seller lives near me so I just met him and picked it up.

Shipping is a big cost when buying a rebuilt pumpkin and then you have to return a core. That all adds up.

The pumpkin was in very good condition. I just had new bearings and clutches installed.

It's real quiet. I was a little worried about having a thick Richmond gear installed. I was told I could end up with a gear whine.

So for my DD a stock 3.07 made a lot of sense.

The 3.07 ratio seems to be almost a perfect match for an L98 with automatic . I have 3.45's in my 93 LT1 and they work well. I tried 3.73's first and they were too steep for my taste.
Did you do the bearings and seals or decide to toss the dice and try it as is?

I had it rebuilt with new clutches and bearings. I don't have a lift so I had a differential shop do the work.

Default Dana 36 w/3:07's Available

Before posting this I got the ok from Fred. I have a Dana 36 pumpkin with 3:07's sitting in my garage. Out of my '90/auto. Has 97,000 Arizona miles on them. Nothing wrong just replaced them with a Pete Kane 3:73 pumpkin. They are in Cave Creek, AZ & I would sell for $275.00 plus shipping. When Pete shipped the 3:73's from PA to AZ the DHL price was approximately $75.00 last year. If there is any interest send me an e-mail so I can respond with pictures. Thanks for letting me post this Fred.
