Default can i replace diff carrier bushings while partially fitted?

hi there all,
well i want to now replace my old carrier bushes with new poly bushes.

just wandering,is it possible to replace my diff carrier dana 44 end bushings with the diff dropped down on each side at one of a time while it is still under the car ??

i suppose i will have to drop the exhaust down a little yeah to do so??

any tips,recomendations/ideas on how to approach this or if you have done this please before??

will i need to still use a portable vice for this ??

thanks

When you’re putting in the poly bushing. You need to take out the metal sleeves. Which I used a punch to get them out....
I did this a few week ago.

My batwing (D44) was out of the car already and not mated to the pumkin.

I used my bench vice with sockets.

Just drop one side at a time and use a drill to drill out the rubber between the metal inside bushing and the batwing. Carefull as not to hit the aluminum. Use sockets and a large c clamp to then push out the metal bushing. Have to be a little creative to do this. Then carefully pry out the remaining rubber. Use c clamp to put in new bushings.

After the bushing is out,You can cut the sleeve out with a hacksaw,if there is enough room to use one there.

Just make a cut somewhere, just enough to split the sleeve in half and a hammer and chisel/flat screwdriver will do the rest to pop it out.

No worries Glen, saw your thread while i was replying to the others i was asked about, so i thought id drop in and fill you in on what a C-clamp is!!

Guru is alot better forum when it comes to getting facts straight, ive seen so much mis information posted on here in the past few months it not funny. Not everyone here does it, but there are alot of people here that like to argue against the facts.
