I have seen an 86' with 11" ZR-1 "A-mold" wheels on all 4 corners with 315/35-17 tires. I believe there rubbing issues with hard turning at that size. I have AFS ZR-1 wheels with 275/40-17's inthe front and 315/35-17's inthe rear with no rubbing issues.
What wheel diameter? The wheel size makes a difference as the section width and aspect ratio of the tire changes as the wheel diameter does if you want the same tire diameter as a stock wheel/tire.
You can go to a 20" wheel as long as the tire is not too wide (say 11-12 inches) and the tire diameter is around 25-26.5".
The wheel offset and backspacing also plays a part in where the wheel sits in the fenderwell.
with Square!
I have the same size, wheel setup on my 87 convertible with no trouble.
Check your shocks out. I new a guy who used the same setup and scrubbed the fronts a little while hard-cornering. It turned out his shocks were completely gone and the front dived when he cornered at speed(H@ll, his car was about an inch or more low at REST!!!!).
Take Care, -John
Smallest size is what ever will bolt on, 15" is pretty common. The largest wheels would probably be 20's and thats pushing it. They might rub a little.
15" wheel on the back with a 28" super swamper, raise the back as high as you can with the bolts and take the car to a farmers field, make a video and post it on the fourm
