Hello all, still trying to solve an erratic idle problem. I took my IAC Valve out today and will be cleaning out the port in the throttle body.
The valve is stuck in one position and I can't pull or push the plunger. Will someone that has had one out tell me if this is normal? I have read that you need to retract it all the way in before installing one but this one wont move.

it is an electric motor, you cannot move it by pushing/pulling on it, it is kinda like the headlights, motor driven worm gear.
I have never retracted one when I replace it, when you turn on the key, it puts it where it needs to be via engine temp and ambient temp
Thanks for the info Overdrive. At idle, I have sort of a quick, erratic stumble. Worse when hot. Not really much carbon built up in the seat area of the TB. Can the motor of the valve move this fast to cause this type of idle problem if it were defective?

NO! The ECM controls the IAC. A defective IAC does not move when it shouldn't. A defective IAC doesn't move when it should. If the ECM/IAC could retract and advance, react, that quickly, it would be capable of smoothing out an erratic idle. It doesn't, and it can't.
It can be difficult. You may have to push on the IAC body with the pintle against a stationary object, like a work bench, and wiggle it slightly, but the pintle will retract to the 1 1/8" position.
Once the IAC and passages are clean, you will have to look elsewhere for your idle problem. Does it idle fast as well as erratically? Look for vacuum leaks.
Rather than Pushing on the pintle of the IAC to move it (to the retracted position), just Rotate it - that'll work. Screw it in just like a fine pitch threaded screw, which it essentially is...
