Default Mini Ram or ported TPI

I am going to build a 383 I am thinking about investing in the TPIS mini ram they have a good sales pitch about LT1 having more Horse Power then the TPI with the only difference is the long runners I know the mini ram will drop the torque and increase the horsepower I was a big fan of building a torque monster before I drove my first R1 my current motorcycle was rated with more torque (Buell) but the R1 is alot faster has anyone out there have a mini ram do you like it a what is the final results

Good reading, but there's always one thing that gets me about these articles. They always start with a base thats been modified already. Why not start with a bone stock engine to show the true power being generated by these mods. If your adding these intakes to a motor that already has heads and a cam, what does that tell you?

I love my miniram!

I really think its a great match with a 383. You'll still have plenty of torque and a great top end. 500 chp can be achieved with a miniram on top of a 383 with nice heads and nice cam, and still be streetable.

Good luck on the build!

Default Mini or Tubes

Running MiniRam with my 383

Luv it, But also AFR Heads and Rev kit with all
the goodies.

502 HP/ 505 Torque dynoed.

Why restrict it to 5500-5800
Claim on no low end myth. Can't keep my rears glued
even with the good suspension pieces in place.
Nasty cam and idle but with 3000 Edge very streetable.

Go for it

I was told my great grandfather was the original founder of the field. He was a big business man in the oil industry, but he divorced his wife and left his son (my grandfather) nothing of it.

Yep, I'm a broke flooring installer.

The beauty of a 383 is you don't have to pull big revs if you can use the extra torque = traction.

What cam?

Custom Comp

Over .600 with 1.6s & over .240 @ .050 on both sides.

On a MAF

Yes, a 350 would notice a lack of torque, but with
Gears or A4 would'nt be much.

i agree with your mini statements but even a fully ported tpi runs out of steam way below 5500 to 5800 if thats what you are referring to. a fully ported tpi falls on it's face after 4500.

i also love my miniram, i have it on a 406 with fastburn heads and a mild crane cam and it still tops out at 6500 with a ton of low end.

First is a good choice for a street motor, flows much better than a ported tpi and better than the superram, but.....You still can't pull the revs with a First like you can with a Miniram.

I've seen fully ported TPIs (siamesed base, slp runners, and siamesed plenum) pull stong to 5200.
