I have an 87 convert with around 88000 miles on its 700r4. When you go from park to drive or reverse it goes in to gear really hard. It doesn't do it all the time but it does 75 % of the time. Just wondering if any one had any ideas. Some one told me its in the rear end others have said it the tranny and others have said change the tranny fluid. I am just trying to get some feed back.
Maybe ask Pete K. He is the tranny guru here. My guess is high line pressure. . . a la T.V cable adjustment.
There is a tap on the side of the transmission where you could put in a guage and see where your pressure is at. I dont know the specs off hand but someone else might help ya.
I believe my idle speed after every thing is warmed up. Would be around 600-700 rpm's, I could be wrong I will have to check that and see.
I thought I set the tv cable by opening the catch on the end of the cable right there at the throttle body. Then open the throttle body all the way. Maybe I didn't do it right.
is there a clunk?
is it only from park to rev/drive?
if it is try looking at the universal joints.
there should be 6 in total.
but try the drive shaft ones first
