this week-end, I am removing the tpi and going to carb and manifold. If the lifters look bad, i'm sure they will, a new cam, lifters and timing chain will be required. If I remove the computor, what kinds of problems will I create? Will the dash gauges still work? and about the converter lock-up? All help will be appreciated thanks John
Yes... your dash will work..except for distance to mile empty stuff
No... your TC will not lock up..You'll need a kit for the ..Superior makes one pretty cheap and easy
Now... put your Flame suit on and get busy

Reason: dyslectic
As far as simplicity, you will love the carb! A nice cam will also spice up your life as well as give you at least 50 extra hp as long as you got headers. What carb and intake are you using?
for the conversion the manifold is a holley contender 300-36, carb 3310-2 or 3, a set of hooker super comp headers, cam of .465/.488 lift and duration of 224/234 and 112LC. the car is a early 86 production vette. Hope this is a good combo, if not, recomendations is appreciated.
this is my first!! the manifold and carb, looks to be a no brainer. use a early type distributor, fuel pressure regulator w/fuel return, a throttle arm corrector on the carb, linkage adaptor for the throttle cable and the tv cable. correct linkage for the tv cable is a must if you don't want to burn up the trans. fab fuel lines, low rise manifold, or hi-rise and cut a hole in hood. then you need a hood scoop, and other misc. items. I think it will be an easy conversion, if you pay attention to detail!!
