My low coolant light on my '89 keeps coming on until the car reaches about 150-60 then goes off. Coolant isn't low, it's fresh as are hoses and therm. (160 ). Ran car with cap off until it got hot, then topped it off, but really think I only replaced as much as had run out during process!!....Any suggestions???
The radiator is lower than the thermostat housing so there is almost always a air pocket that develops there. Remove the radiator cap warm the engine and bring rpms @ 2500 top of with coolant and quickly install radiator cap before lowering rpms. You'll be surprise how far the coolant level drops when you bring up the rpms. It may take a couple times of doing this, but it usually works.
