the track that i go to the tech is getting really **** and i want to run slicks here pretty soon.. i was wondering if anyone had a part number for longer than stock length wheel studs for our cars so i can pass tech without issue??
If you mount the slicks on stock configuration wheels, the stock studs and lugs should be legal. If you are using a wheel with a thicker web, the stud must be long enough to extend into the hex portion of the nut, a distance equal to the diameter of the stud. The cheap, easy, way is to mock up a wheel to determine how long a stud you need. Then knock out a stock stud and head for the Dorman department at the local auto parts store. Stock style studs are available in longer lengths. The real right way is to order special racing studs from someone like Strange Engineering. More work and more money, but worth it, if you have the power to need them. If you use open ended lug nuts you will fly through tech in a breeze.
