I was putting a new Air Dam on last weekend and looked at the front of the oil cooler and radiator. Anyway this thing is "gummed" up solidly about 4 inches on each side and up about half way. Probably not cooling as well as it should.
So question: with out doing any damage to anything can I take a power washer to it? I'd to have it cleaned out just to have better air flow.
A gentle degreaser chemical with a soft bristle brush works well. With your thumb over the hose end spray from the back side of the radiator forward, to flush the gunk off. Pretty easy project.
I bought this gizmo from Service Champ...it is basically a brass wand that hooks to a garden hose and has a fitting on the end that sprays water at a 90 degree angle from the wand and at a flat stream about 30 degrees across. It is made to clean out A/C condensors and radiators....WORKS LIKE A DREAM. I thought mine looked clean until I sprayed it out and could not believe the crap that fell out. On the highway in 80 to 85 degree sun at 75 mph, my coolant never got over 190, even with A/C on. I have a 180 thermostat.
I have not looked at any parts places but would gladly get you one and ship it to you for my cost.
