sounds EXACTLY like a MAF problem. I did the same thing you did, fought with the electronics trying to figure it out. Exact same symptoms you have and it was the MAF. If you get funny voltage signals then its possible that it could be the MAF module.

That has gotta' mean that the fan amp draw is hittin' the current for the MAF.

Not gettin' it's share of current when the fan powers up? Are they both on a common source? Or a common ground?

Can ya' wire in a temporary ground wire for the MAF?

??? I can think of nothin' that's gonna' happen that would change tune. Maybe a code might trip for a fan fault, but nothin' for tune function.

Try this, just to see what ya' get...

COLD motor, by-pass the coolant temp sensor to fire the fan when you turn on the motor.

Observe results.............................


Haynes don't say if the MAF and the fan power are on the same circuit.
