Default IS CUSTOM REPROGRAMMING THE PCM WORTH THE $?

On my LT4 am thinking about having the PCM reprogrammed to improve performance. Claims are 10 to 12 rwhp increases on LT4. I wonder if you can feel the difference in SOTP? For $350 (Ed Wright) that seems like a reasonable price for that kind of gain. Anyone else reprogrammed their LT4? I have just minor mods such as K&N, 160 thermo, etc. Thanks for your comments.

If you plan to do any mods, first do those, then worry about reprogramming the PCM to make all the new parts play together nicely. You don't really have the PCM reprogrammed for more power as much as you reprogram to make the car run right with the current combination of parts. If you are running a mostly stock combination, GM does a pretty good job with the original program. About the biggest power gainer they can give you is turning the fans on at a lower temp so you can run a 160° thermostat.

judging from your mod list, i think id do it. If you want to make any other mods then do those first of course.

I gained HP when a had mine leaned out.
But now that I changed my exhaust ( muffler eliminators ) it leaned it out even further, so I'm back to square one.

Like they said, do mods first, then reprogram!

On a LT4 the stock program will be good unless you start doing major mods. With what is done in my sig the computer was still stock except for the Hypertech that i needed for the gears and fans to come on. There is a LT4 with the stock computer and the Hot cam and ran a 12.2. I'm having mine redone only because I'm doing the heads and cam.
