I couldn't avoid a small cinder block a while back and just noticed it put a good size dent in the front of my transmission pan. Does anyone have any recommendations for a tranny pan? My car is lowered so a deep dish pan is not an option. I've just looked at a few through summit racing. I'd prefer a finned unit in a stock size but haven't found one. Thanks.
You may want to look at the Hughes Performance Pans. They have both cast Aluminum and steel pans in stock depth as well as deep pans.
I put one on my 96 last year. It's a real quality product. It comes with a filter, a new gasket and new bolts. The cast Aluminum pan is finned for cooling. You will notice a lower oil temp. Also, it comes with a draain plug.
You can get them at Jegs or, Summit racing. I forgot the correct part number. but the customer service people are very good.
I've got a Summit Deep Aluminum Pan on my '93 and it is lowered. I don't have any problems with clearance on normal roads. Of course you need to be careful you don't run into anymore cinder blocks or higher than normal obstacles but, you should be fine.
I am considering though for added protection and insurance building a shield plate that would attach to the front mounting bolts and wrap around the front of the pan to provide some added protection just in case of that random cinder block!
I keep going back and forth on what to get. There is so much crap on the roads here in Tampa Bay. I even have issues with my slammed truck (tire wrapped around my drive shaft once). I thought for sure when I hit that small cinder block that I'd left a trail of some kind of oil. Hope to never have that happen again, but I feel I have to plan for it. I wonder if I could have my old sway bar cut and mounted to the front of the pan for a bumber of sorts...or is that just plain over kill. Man I need to learn how to weld.

Interesting...
They used shallow and deep pans on 4L60e? Mine supposedly has a deep pan - same as my GMC 4x4 (filter is the same anyway).
