What year????
On newer c4's, the front speaker amps are under the passenger seat.

There is nothing under the seat of any C4 that is Audio related. If yours has something there, it is not from the factory.

When I pulled my stock stereo on my 89 I added speakers to the dash. I did not use the front door speakers, and I added 6X9's in the back. I also have a sub woofer added. I like the "presence" of sound from the front dash though its not very loud at this time.
