My '92 LT1 with 35,000 miles has developed a noisy lifter. On previous cars I used Bardahl or Marvel Mystery Oil treatments with good results. So far I haven't been able to locate these products. Can anyone recommend a product that will clean the lifter and quiet it down?
not to seem rude, but if it is a mechanical related issue, ie the lifter is out of sync, then you have to pop the cover and adjust or replace it yourself. I dont think any amount of magic liquid will fix a mechanical problem.
Also, be carefull what you put in there to try to do this, some of these products can be bad for your seals and things.

Sometimes the plunger inside a hydraulic lifter will "stick" due to varnish build up inside the lifter from not changing the oil frequently, which causes clearance in the valve train and the subsequent ticking noise. Even still though that is pretty un-common on an engine with only 35,000 miles, unless the oil has almost "never" been changed.
You might pull the valve covers and look for a rocker arm nut that may be backing off, or a rocker or push rod that's wearing out prematurely. :seeya
When you change the oil..put in 1 quart of transmission fluid along with 4 quarts of oil....I know some will tell you not to do this but it has worked for me on countless cars in the past and has never hurt anything.....It will clear up noise if indeed it is a dirty, sticking lifter.... :yesnod:
