Default 1 week later and $1500 down

I was driving my 94 LT1 last Thursday and it quit going down the road. Just died, no codes, nothing-would not start.

Got it towed in to a shop I trust. Went home and got the laptop and Datamaster-still no codes. We decided it was the opti. I bought this car in March 06 with 74 K on it. Was real clean and ran good. I'd been thinking I was going to do the WP and Opt before I started road trips this summer. So, we (they-I was there and helped) pulled the WP, bearings in the cage were falling out (did NOT leak). Then we pulled the Opti-the bearing (bushing) was dry as a bone and it made noise when you turned it by hand. OK, great!! this stuff needed changing.

The diffence between the MSD and the GM Opti is night and day. It's worth the extra $200. Got a WP from Summit, it came with the Thermostat and Housing, was worth the $200 it cost. BTW, I took the old t-stat out and it has 180C4 on it. That is the only number on it and I was wondering if that is the temp rating. I thought 94 LT1s had a 200 degree stat. Also, it runs about 6 degrees cooler now- running along at 50 with the air on, it shows 196, never ran under 200 before, usually about 203 or 204.

Also, put new plugs and wires on it, seems to run better. That's got to be in mind as the old wires and plugs looked pretty good.

Called Eckler's, they had the cover and rotor. We called Summit, they had everything. Ordered the MSD opti, they insisted we needed the vented Opti-the car was made in May 94. Well, we needed the early model Opti, they paid to ship the right one OVERNIGHT.

Put everything back together-NO start. Changed the Ignition module and it fired right up. Put the car up on the lift to change the Tranmission fluid and check what things looked like (everything looked great-red fluid and no stuff on the magnet) and to check the rear end. While we had it up, found a FLAT spot on a rear tire (I'd heard a chirp or two during the tow). The spot went down to the wires in the tire. Went back to the wrecker guy and he said to take it to the place I'd bought tires at last and have them do whatever it needed and send him the bill.

Tomorrow, I'll go get two new rears tires, I'll pay for one and 1/4 of the other. I'm tickled to death about this last week.

Sorry about the mixed up thoughts here, I edited this post and got some things in front of other things, you get the idea though.
