Default Rear View Mirror Lights - opening ?

How do you get the lights out of the rear view mirror. I see the little opening at one end but they didn't just pop out with a smalll screwdriver so I was afraid to force it. Please advise.

Thanks,

Fitz

Don't know if this will help as it's for a 95. There are detents at each end on the bottom of the mirror.

The instructions are to pry via the detent carefully, but you already know that. Wish I could be more help.

Which lights are you talking about? The reading lights or the one that stays illuminated and lights up the console area?
