I burned an audio CD earlier and decided to open it up and listen to it on my headphones here at the PC. I had moved the MP3s I used into a new directory, so I didn't feel like redoing hte playlist. Anyways, Mediaplayer was the "default" Audio CD application I guess, fine I'll deal with it.
Anyways, the audio sounded like crappola. So I fired up Winamp, and loaded the CD. Man.... what a HUGE difference in audio output. Whatever CD decoder and Directsound output 'dem boys are using at Nullsoft are are superior to the almighty MS. ;) I knew there was a reason I use this tried and true program exclusively.
I was a little disappointed by it's memory useage. I was typing along formulas into an Excel spreadsheet for making a one touch does all approach to filling in my VE tables using my current BIN and Diacom runs. Had a couple of really cool macros going. I played the last Macro and Excel came up saying "Low on memory, continue without undo" and I clicked yes about 50 times before I realize Excel had locked up. Next time I ran it, it was flawless without WinAmp going...
But then I realized my problem. The Excel file, which I want to be able to share with other chip tuners that use the '730/727 and Diacom, was 46.5 Mb. That's megabytes for those of you who no hable ingles. It will be a month before I have T1 access and can upload it. I must be really unefficient at writing formulas for Excel-But it does have a formula in 8000*13*11 cells, so I guess that makes 1144000 nested IF/THEN statements, and then it does 2 surface graphs. 3 mouseclicks takes care of what used to take me 2 hours. Who knows?
So that restored my faith in Winamp:yesnod: -Matt-
I have another HDD with WinXP on it; someone on this forum had a link to an mpeg of his car...So I downloaded it and attempted to play it in WinXP Pro...
...Wups!!!...Total screen freezes!!!...Several times in succession!!!...Screen completely freezes for about 5 seconds, then XP spontaneously reboots, all the way to the video card loading!!!...
...So much for the New Improved Windows...
