Why do I have to hold the gas pedal w.o. to start the car? I just re-built the L98 in my '86 ragtop, bored 60 over, polished& ported for flow only stock heads, extensive porting of stock TPI system, saw it in earlier post and it does work, just very very time consuming. The first time that I cranked the car after rebuild I didn't have to touch the gas at all. But now after riding for awhile and re-cranking it I have to hold it w.o for the engine to start. Thanks for thew help.
Hey , I will have some flow mathced 22#'s in week. You can try them out, and if you like them, we can sell your soul.. Just kidding. I will have mine out in a week from my 93 LT-1. They were flow matched by Callways people in CT. Let me know. I know 22#'s are not cheap (why I have no idea), and 24# Ford SVT's are around 210 new.
Good point, check your MAF. See if someone can switch with you , and run a scan "paper clip" and see if a code pops up, it may be intermittent and you wont get a check engine light.
When you first turn your key on you should here the IAC motor. If you do not than this is your problem. It is allowing no air into the engine and the cold start injector is enough to flood it. If you put in a new one make sure you push the pintle in before you screw it in or else you just ruined the new one.

More than likely this is your culprit. I have had many of these go bad. Save yourself the hassle and your labor, by a G.M. one, the ones from Advanced Auto, and the other stores don't last long.
