Default Fuel Gauge/Pump Problems. HELP!

This is my first post and hopefully I can gain some knowledge into what is happening. These are questions to my mothers Vette which i have been working own for a while now. Car is a 92 Corvette...

Original problem is the fuel gauge not working. No bar is showing up and No big deal until now. The car has been having some issues with starting and sometime stalling. Often when I would take it for a test drive to troubleshoot, I noticed that when punched and it gets anywhere over 2K RPM it misses like crazy. After some troubleshooting, I decided that it might quite possible be the fuel pump. So with that said, I decided to order a fuel pump, and order the fuel sending unit to hopefully fix the fuel gauge problem. Was I wrong...

When i received both items and a empty wallet , I put both of then on and to my surprise both didn't work. The sending unit didn't fix my fuel gauge problem. Worse than that, the car will not even sputter to start with the new pump. Now before changing out the fuel pump that morning, I had no problems with it starting, except now with the new fuel pump. So then after hours of investigating and noticing I wasnt getting fuel to the engine, i decided to put the old fuel pump back on and to my surprise it started up effortlessly. So now my problem is I have to brand new parts which to my surprise the sending unit didn't work to fix the gauge, and the New pump out of the box won't deliver fuel to the engine. But the old pump works most of the time..

Does anybody have any info of these??? I have ANOTHER fuel pump on order to see if maybe I just got a bad pump. However what can be the deal on the sending unit?? Any other problems i could have to prevent the gauge from working??? Any help is appreciative...Thanks, Brandon

The first thing to do is check your fuel pressure. You will need a pressure gauge hooked to the fuel rail. You should read Approximately 40 psi when you turn the key on.
