Default temp guage help

Just bought my daughter an 84 that has had the motor replaced and fuel injection replaced with a carb. All of the guages work except for the coolant temp guage. It continually reads low. I have gone under the hood and grounded out every green and blue wire I could find and the reading will not change from low. It should change from low when it is grounded right?

As a last resort i have pulled the digital dash to go right to the source to find out if it is the guage or I just havent found the right wire. I was planning on grounding the dk green wire from the cluster to see if I got a reading and that will tell me if I just havent found the wire or the guage is bad.

The wiring diagram I am looking at says the temp sensor is a dk green wire, Only problem is there is more than one dk green wire comming out of the dash cluster. Can any one describe or send me a pic of exactly which wire it is as well as if the grounding will give me a reading or is there some thing else I need to do.

This is my last resort before I go to an aftermarket mechanical guage mounted inside which I really dont want to do.

The left side of my display is also dim, can you remove the bulbs in an 84 from the rear or only from the front by taking out the metal covers?

Default update

Wow, if you actually read the wiring diagram and look at which pin goes to which wire you can figure it out. Grounding the d5 wire straight from the guage worked, so the guage is good. Will just run a new wire from the guage to the the sensor should take care of it, no ugly after market guage needed.
