Any synthetic 75W90. Mobil1 is good. Buy the additive. Total for both will be about $15.00. O'Reilly, Advance, NAPA, Pep Boys, Autozone, any of them will have it.
What type of additive? Will any parts store stock it or will I have to pick it up at the dealer?

Parts store will have the fluid, I think it's about 3 or 4 ounces, can't remember. But, it'll come in a small container, cost about $5.00. Mobil 1 is the OEM fluid and it has worked well for me.
yeah this is the stuff to use i use 75/140 and it needs no additive! you will luv this stuff!
Be careful, GM recommends GM Posi-traction add, (2) per complete change out, and Mobil 1 works fine w/additive. Gordon K specifically states that additive is needed.

it is already in the blend..it works great! too much additive and you lose posi traction!
I follow Gordon's advice and it works fine for me and my 92. GM axle fluid and 2 bottles of additive.
When I first changed out my 86Z51's diff gear oil(to Redline synthetic 75/90) about 12 years ago, I had similar questions about the additive? After speaking directly with the Redline tech guys, and several local Canadian lubrication engineers, all confirmed that no extra additive. incuding the GM additive, should be added, or rquired. From what I know to this time, most/all of the Synthetic gear-diff lubes have the proper additive(s) already included. Consult the oil manufacturer if in doubt! From what I've learned over the years, too much additive can cause problems too! Btw, I'm still using the Redline w/out additve extra, and no troubles on my 86 Z51. For what it's worth.

Sounds like we're getting into the "my source is better than your source" argument. Hey if your way works, stay with it.

Hey, thanks, I will! I/we were asked, in effect, our personal, direct knowledge and experience on this subject, and I gave it. Those who asked, can take it, or not, as they will. Ciao.
