ps, the little chimer that sounds when a door is ajar or keys left in, i can barley hear mine atall. does any one know where the unit is located? im guessing a previous owner got annoyed maybe and put some foam over it to silence it. hopefully if i can find it i can fix it. thanks, ive ran a search but im not sure what you call it over there. thanks
In my '91 it's up under the driver's side of the dash, you have to remove both the carpeted panel and the metal knee bolster, then you will see a small black plastic rectangular box in a clip with a four-wire harness attached. This is not where the factory manual says it should be but that's where mine is. It's the same chimer for the headlights on, key in ignition, etc.

ok thanks, wher does the book say it is? just it sounds like its on passenger side.
and my 91 manual has the same picture, mine is clipped to the underside of the dash to the right of steering column, no need to remove the dash pad but do have to remove the driver's side knee bolster and carpeting.
I have not idea if mine is factory location or not since the wiring is pretty messed up but that's where it is. Good luck.
