Default ABS/ASR code H67

In this heat we've been having here in NC lately my car gets an attitude after it has run a while then parked for a little while. When you start moving it after that the tranny starts slipping and the engine starts running like crap. If you stop the car and let it idle when it does this it is idleing way to fast. The tranny and engine are in normal operating range temp wise.

I'm getting a code H67 which on a '96 is ABS/ASR I believe. Has the ASR gone south?

I don't have a 96 factory service manual and my 93 book does not list a code 67 for ABS so I can't help much. Your mention of transmission slipping sounds like a problem with the ASR servo or associated wiring.
I will say that of the 30 ABS codes listed for my car none of the diagnostic procedures recommend replacement of anything without at least a connector or circuit check of the component involved.
Similar to all DTC's for any system with on board diagnostic capability a code normally indicates a problem with a certain circuit only and requires additional troubleshooting using a flow chart to isolate the root cause. My recommendation would be to follow the applicable flow chart in your FSM for the code displayed. Good luck, let us know what you find.

I think the code listing changed in 96. I'm leaning toward wiring though. Did a little sprucing up in the engine bay a week or so ago. It's just strange how it does it when it gets really hot outside. Never has done it when first starting out. Drove it to Myrtle Beach this weekend, 2 hrs plus from here. Not problems all on the way down and riding around for about hour after taking a break from the show. Got ready to come back home when it was hot as hell and the thing goes nuts! Limped home. Started it up Sunday and it was fine! I've also noticed it has done it on sharp or quick left hand turns. That's sounding like trash in the fuel pump sock although it does it at other time to. But why would that throw a code?

You may have more than one problem but since you have the code for the ABS I'd start there. I'm sure you know the ABS can control the throttle and retard timing, hopefully it is all related, those actions can make it seem as though the trans is slipping when the ABS takes control. The scary part is the poor running when hot, that can be symptomatic of the opti.

Hush......don't say that word! I was thinking that myself especially with the heat related problem going on. I'll keep checking.

Thanks TT !
