Yesterday night I installed a Air/Fuel ratio gauge. I looked for the purple wire and thought I found it but it turns out that wasnt it so I just wired it into the EMC. I started it up and everything went well and was working fine so I finished the installation. Today I go do turn on the car and it starts up but the Gauge doesnt read anything... then about a mile away from my house the car starts sputtering and feeling like its about to stall so I made it back to my house and unwired the gauge and It still is sputtering and barely runs. What could it be? could I have accedentally done something that would cause this or is it just coincedence? It was running fine yesterday, drove it over 100 miles.
Edit: o yea, the check engine light is not comming on either
Interesting, I bought an A/F guage from ecklers and never installed it. Where did you mount it by the way?
Just a thought, try unplugging your MAF and starting the car and running without it for a bit. It'll set a code and the SES light will come on but you'll eliminate it as a possible issue.
I tried unplugging the MAF Sensor and it turned on the SES light.
I mounted the gauge to the left side of the "corvette" on the bread box. It is a silver gauge and lights up yellow when in stoich range. I might paint black if I want too later.
I did have the battery disconnected and had the battery disconnected over night because for some reason it doesnt hold a charge very well.
does anyone know what the other purple wire could have been that I messed with before I found the right one? It was comming out of the firewall on driver's side and right next to another heavier gauge purple wire. Maybe I pulled it loose of whatever it was connecting?

bump. maybe just one more idea before I give up and put it in the shop? If I put a volt meter on the o2 sensor wire should it be reading like 6v? and if I get an erratic reading does that mean something is wrong with the sensor? I'm trying to get my hands on one for tomorrow
no no no. The correct reading for an O2 sensor is ERRATIC. I put diacom plus on the car and it showed it verying constantly. Somewhere in the FSM it actually even says that. Don't change it just because of the reading. If it's outright bad it'll set a code. Check the FSm for the diagnostics page on the O2 sensor and you'll see what I mean. It's on my website as a pdf. Good luck!
