Ok, I give up, I made a post the other day called "Winter project help needed..." asking for info on getting some hoses and things off.
These should be easy questions that anyone who has worked on a C4 could answer, well I have just started to work on
mine and wanted to save some time and effort finding out the easy way first. I guess these questions must have too easy for anybody to
bother to answer, maybe this forum needs a dumb question section for all us novices. Or am I doing something wrong
while posting ?? I was under the impression this was a very helpful place, I guess not. A post like "What color car do you have"
or "Do you like my new wheels" or "How old are you" get tons of replies and a tech question gets none.
Just for the record, you need to take the belt tensioner off to remove the bottom radiator hose clamp, and you need
to remove the filler box to get the TB heater hose off, those were two of the questions I asked.
Forums are supposed to be places where people who don't know ask people who do know so they can complete a task
the best way possible. Sorry about the vent but I hate when things like this happen.

Re: This Forum must be broken.. (jeepie91)
Bud, sorry you got no help.
I would suggest a better topic title. Like, how do I remove this hose?
I also did not notice your post or would certainly have answered to the best of my ability. I think the topic title got you un-noticed.
This is a busy board and I will admit that there is a bunch of BS on the Tech section lately. However a specific topic will often attract the attention of the technical types, while a general topic will often go without attention as it could be really boring. Ya know?
Just to end, you seem to think that this board owes you an answer, well get over it.
i havent been on the forum anywhere near as much since the semester ended and i'm off my T3 LAN. Only specific titles get my attention now, and the Tech section has been a little boring lately, nobody has been on the forum lately and i gather it gets this way this time of year and mods usually are done in spring-early summer so this section would be busy then. Sorry but i didnt see the post.
It happens alot here...im sorry i missed your post...I always try to help when I can.
Ive been here longer then alot of people who may be deemed regulars, and they never reply to a post I have. There sometimes seem to be a click going on where the same people only reply to each other. And yes the BS topics always get the most replies...people love BS!!
:)
Many times when I ask something as well no one seems to know.I do sometimes ask deep end questions that a service manual never tells ya.
But I will say,I did get some good help when I needed it,but sometimes it takes time.
There are some real good people here.
The problem I have now, the board move so fast they get pushed to the 2nd or 3rd page in the same day sometimes.
Its also amazing how much the same old topics get the most replies.I cant tell you how many times Ive seen a "how do I lower my car " or L98vs LT1 thread or something similiar in such a short time span. But thats life here and many of the same topics push the must needed tech ones to the other pages and get missed.
Keep hanging out though...sometimes ya need to bring the topic back to the top by replying yourself so when we log on,we can notice it right away.
If ya want, you can also email me anytime and if I can help you I will do so.
My email is:
TunePort86@webtv.net
I do this as well with some forum members,we email each other and I got alot of help I wasnt sure about done by email, and Ive helped others too.
:)
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let's not get too hasty here. Note that alot of members are busy with holidays and daily life stuff. The replies to this thread are right on. Maybe be more specific on the topic titles. Let's face it, there is a lot of stuff to peruse over and sometimes you need to snaz up the title to get attention sometimes. Also, get on a first name basis with as many members as you can. It's great to converse with people on a more personal level. This place IS a very helpful forum. I love it. Sorry you felt otherwise. I like the real technical, real specific stuff for the most part, and just for variety get alittle into the fluff stuff. Give it another fair shake Al.
I agree with all the above. Due to all the BS I scan the tech forum and try to respond where I feel I can help. I've never posted a question that didn't get not only an answer but a good answer.
Troy (and other moderators) has also spent a lot of effort (not to mention $$$) setting up Archives and Search functions. They been sporadic lately, but try searching for a specific problem first; it may have been answered many times, and people may be tired of responding over and over.
...Especially if it's something that comes up endlessly, as described above...
...(And, yes; I'm guilty of posting first and searching later, too)...
jeepie.. if a question goes unanswered, reply to your own post with the letters TTT (to the top) With as much traffic that these forums get, stuff can get pushed a page or two back very easily and can get overlooked. I've had to do TTT only twice out of the 15 or so questions I've asked and both times I did that I had answers in under an hour.
Sorry man, I always try to help when I can. My internet connection (@home) has been flaky here lately, plus I'm off for the holidays so I'm not on the internet all day like when I'm at work.
Give it another chance and you'll get some help eventually. I've posted stuff that goes unheard for a while but then suddenly everybody jumps on it.
I think you need to chill out. Don't get too **** about your posts and the number of responses you may or may not get. I have posted questions and have never gotten a response. In fact I've got two on the forum right now with zero responses. Forum members are not obligated to post anything nor are they obligated to answer posts. You will get more cooperation with a little more tolerance. Just my .02 :seeya
Thank you for the posts offering help, and maybe I was a little too **** about my post not getting answered, and maybe it is due to the
fact that my post title was a vague and maybe it is also due to the amount of posts quickly pushing them to the second and third pages.
Maybe we should come up with a identifier to put first in the title of a post that the author would like a question answered to signal
other members to take a look, something like [tech help requested] or something, what do you think ? Or maybe we need a section just
for asking tech questions. I have tried to search before and I have not had much luck finding what I was looking for.
Maybe we need a bunch more tech tips, maybe we should add even the easy stuff, this might help with the posting of the same questions
over and over. I have been using forums at work for about 15 years and I have found that most people look forward to posting answers to
others questions, in fact I have answered a few tech posts here as well, and look for posts I can add to. I have been messing with cars for quite a while, just not vettes till now.
Thanks again, I will try your suggestions the next time.
Al
I'm a relative newbie on this forum, but have been impressed with help that i've gotten. Everyone has been extremely helpful. I am a member of another forum (non-automotive) and i noticed that it slowed way down today. Hey tomorrow is Christmas eve. It dawned on me that lots of people are probably either shopping or getting ready for family. Plus, the kids are home hogging all the computer time. Feliz Navidad from Texas.
Well, on another board I wrote "tune up questions" and got no reply. I then wrote "Whoa! Naked Chicks!" I did get some replies then, and beleive it or not, one of them wasn't insulting me for not having naked women, but actually gave me the info that I wanted. By the way she has 7 cars herself.
jeepie91,
I suppose that blasting all your fellow Forum members seems to be the logical answer to your problems. I was one of the founding members of this Forum and have never been left out to dry. In fact, had it not been for the help of Forum members, I probably would have already got rid of my Vette due to the numerous problems I encountered early into ownership. Thanks to the help of others, I have a fine ride that is trouble free, and if I do ever encounter a problem where I need advice, I will turn to the Forum ~ first and foremost.
Let me give you some posting advice:
1. Don't ask 14 questions at one time. Most of us only have a limited amount of time and don't have the time to spend 30 minutes answering multiple questions.
2. When asking a question, be very concise, i.e. Need advice on installing injectors on L98, vs. my new injectors are blue and the old ones were black ~ does that matter.
3. Don't jump into your fellow buddies poopie, or they will surely jump back.
4. All Forum members form a strong bond, jump one, and you jump quite a few others.
5. There is no such thing as a stupid or dumb question. If you don't get replies, it might be that the same question is answered in another thread on the same page.
6. Search the Archives ~ They are priceless!

Re: This Forum must be broken.. (PurpleC4)
Has been very moderate this year again. Deer are out of control in NJ, don't know about PA, but amagine it's worse. Wife's bulbs tried to come up couple of weeks ago, but it's going down into the 20's tomorrow night. No snow yet here, leaves just stopped! Darn cherry blossoms tried to come out in DC!
Still using the Corvette all the time, but warm and cozy it ain't!
Take care and very glad to see you back on the forum when you have the time!
