I am experiencing what I believe is "extra" valve train noise. It's a little "clack" that magically appears at 3k rpm and just as magically disappears at 4k rpm. Car runs fine, temps, pressures, fine. No metal in oil or anything of that sort. The rollers do seem to tick a bit more than they should.
My question is this... I know the rollers are not "adjustable" but is it unheard of for them to come a little loose or back out?
Also, I know that I have a slight oil leak from the intake manifold, maybe to the tune of 1/2 quart or less per 3000 miles. Could there be a slight vacuum leak that might cause a noise?
Getting ready to change the intake gasket and wondering what else to look for.
Depending on the extent of the vacuum leak caused by the intake manifold gasket, it can cause strange sounds. I've had to change mine twice hunting a vacuum leak, and while it isn't a sound I'd confuse with valve clutter, it did have noise. I guess just inspect the pushrod galley under the intake manifold for contamination.
Also, what gaskets are you using? In my experience, none of them fit. I ended up buying the 7777 gaskets from Summit Racing (CLICKY) and had to dremel the ports to match.
