I have 1989 Convertible and want to know where the electric hook-up are for the antenna. Mind just won't go down anymore, and since I only use my IPOD what do I need added expensive to replace antenna assembly.
I would appreciate any help, please!
Thank You

It's possible you have a broken ribbon which is a very cheap fix.
Can you hear the motor running when the antenna should be going down?
You are right, I hear it running. But do you have idea where the electric hook-up is located.
I have a good guess. On the 86, there is a relay under the carpeting to the left(driver's side) of the hatch latch. Maybe it's there on the 89 too.
It's a good idea to disconnect it there while you are waiting to replace the ribbon. No need to burn out the motor.

Edit: oops, just read you have a vert. Don't worry, a 'vert guy will chime in with the exact location.

Thanks! This was SUPER helpful! I discovered that the CTSY/CLK circuit powered the antenna, but also the radio and climate control. So, the relay is a MUCH better solution. I had to take of the plastic cover (by the latch for the hatch) and it was right under the cover. Easy access (after 6 screws).
