Never seen this manifold porting technique done...
I have gone through a lot of back posts about porting the upper plenum and opening up the mating surfaces--but I have never found anyone take a flap-disk to the runners/lower manifold to clean up casting flash. I assume it wouldn't be hard to locate a box of the correct diameter flap-disks and a flexible shaft for the air grinder. Has anyone done this before? Was it time-worthy or time-intensive?
I figure tranny fluid will be able to keep a little of the aluminum off the disks. Anyone have a better cutting fluid?
It is going to take me a while to get the upper correct. To do it right, I have to heli-coil all the bolt holes. Seems like Mr. Previous Q. Owner felt the need to either use english bolts in the upper manifold or had the runners really ****-eyed while installing it and gnarled all the threads.
Anyhow, that's about it except for media blasting afterwards. I don't plan on polishing the runners, but would like to give them a nice luster. Sandblasting does an OK job--anyone else have a better media (that is cheap)? Thanks, -Matt-

I use the flapper wheels all the time. Get them at a production supply house. They come in various grits, diameters, and widths. It's likely a waste of time on the stock runners, but you might get a few hp matching the plenum and opening it up. I did my Accell base and large tube with the flappers. Don't know what kind of grinding tools you have, but I did it without much of a problem using my air die grinder and a longer shaft.
