ok still puzzled by this lol. so my car is a 1990 c4. when you turn on just park lights, should the headlights flip round? or should they only flip round when you turn them on fully on the switch. ie, 0/all off 1/parklights 2/headlights
yes thats what mine did origanlly, now it flips lights on too but they arnt illuminated untill you turn switch full. so am i right in thinking it shouldnt do that, and what the frig could it be!?? lol
That's weird. They definitely shouldn't flip up until you turn the headlights fully on. However, if you turn the headlights on, then turn the switch back to parking lights, they stay flipped up, the lights themselves just turn off. Then they'll flip closed when you turn all lights off.
Look on the drivers side wheelwell in the lower front inside. There are 2 bolts that you take out from the fenderwell tire side.
The relay is solid state and is not user repairable, it is user replaceable.
They are current sensing and normally do not activate the motors until the headlights are turned on, full right on the ****.
Might ask on the net to see if anyone has one, but i think the problem may be elsewhere. The relay activates from the voltage used to turn the headlamp filaments on.

The easiest thing to do is get the field service manual. FSM, look in the wiring diagrams, find the wire that comes from the the switch that turns the headlight motors on, and see if it has voltage on it in the park position.
If so, you have a bad headlight switch, if not, the relay box is getting voltage from somewhere else, perhaps a crossed wire from the parking light circuit, or the fog lamps circuit. Try turning off the fog lamps and see if the headlights rotate in park then.
You have to troubleshot the problem, eliminating what could cause the problem, before suspecting the relay box.
If you had 1 headlight rotating, I would suspect the box or the motor, not in this case.
i tried that, i think the yellow wire had something to do with it. just didnt want to start cutting cables, seems odd that after unplugging relay then plugging back in that they worked correct until i turnt headlights of. that makes me think its the relay too.
