I have talked to More Performance in Charlotte,N.C. about doing the heads cam ETC on my 1992 corvette Has anyone on the Forum had any experience with these people. Before I shell out $4400 I would like to know. This figure does include installation. The parts appear to be similar to what Chris has at Speed Demon has
did you get their LT1 package or are they just doing heads & cam. They wanted to charge me $11,000 to install their L98 package and install headers and SR that i would buy separately. Hell i can buy a newer vette for that much.
I donno Buppies, but $4400 seems about $1000 short for MORE's Top End Package. The internet prices don't include labor. If labor IS included, sounds like a pretty good deal. The MORE performance guys do good work, and are very honest. Just ask Hutch. He has their top end kit I believe. :chevy
I have no direct experience with More Performance, seems like a reputable shop. I think their cylinder heads are cnc'd I'm not too crazy about that, would prefer hand porting.

Re: Top End Package (ASRoff)
Not fair for me to state pricing here.
You should give Dave or Julio at Cartek a call and work out the best package that will fit your needs. I'll say their pricing is fair and the after care is great.
I've purchased the LT1 top end from More Performance. It's awsume !
What an improvemnet! The heads are top notch! When I eventually spun my #1 rod bearing, I decided to send the bottom end to More for the
396 upgrade. These guy's really know there stuff. I'm very happy
with both projects.

How soon after you did the heads did you spin the bearing???????????
Looks like once to take these motors apart you really got to pre-oil real good. I know Cartek did mine for about an hour before they started it.

Not very long after, I'd say about 7000 miles. It happened during a dyno session. (Rev to 6000) On the third try, this awful banging sound started, I immediately checked the oil pressure, and sure enough, it was extremely low at idle.
I was suspecting it was due to detonation. Now you have me wondering
if it was due to lack of lubrication. The bottom end was never touched during the top end work. Hmmm. As a precautionary measure, I've installed
a new oil pump, per Mike at more recommendation, as well as the knock sensors. I noticed, that More P did some grinding at specific locations
on the block to what seems to reduce oil flow resistance.
Would you recommend upgrading to the LT4 knock module? I
finally got my hands on a diacom and will be monitoring the knock counts and retards due to knock. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I had my top end including head job (port, gasket match, 3 angle valve, pocket porting, etc.), hot cam install for $4300 including all parts and labor. And that was with the place buying the hot cam kit for $650 (too much when we all know we can get it for $500)
It is important for me to mention that $850 of this price was for a new vented style opti, timing chain, etc. when we discovered the stock ones were bad. (timing chain had some slop in it)
I had some bolt ons before hooking up with More Perf last Winter. I had a 52 mm TB, oversize MAF ends, license plate air intake, SLP shorties and their 3 inch exhaust system, and 4.09 gears. It pulled 305 RWHP on an older Dynojet, which normally read higher than the newer ones. I installed myself the remainder of the More Perf top end package, 450 flywheel HP. That was the Crane 222/230/112 cam, CNC heads, hand ported intake; plus the stuff that you really should have, proper pushrods, CC Pro Magnum rockers, CC R rollers, etc. I also added 2 new front O2 sensors, new opti, and new w/p. On the same Dynojet, with those changes listed the car pulled 364 RWHP.
All of the prices from More were great. Their service and support, and help to me while I did my work was terrific. Also, after I got it rolling, and had a pile of questions for them, they were very responsive.

dizwiz24.....what kind of results did you see hp wise?
Also.....do you guys think the LT1-LT4 conversion from Pace is worth it?
It has the LT4 heads, intake manifold, 1.6 rockers, and it includes the HOT cam kit and a few other little things I believe.....and sells for $2100
OR, would it be better to just get a HOT cam kit and have your intake manifold and heads ported on an LT1?
One more scenario.....if I did purchase the LT4 conversion and THEN had the heads and intake ported.....would that be even more benificial than the porting of the LT1 heads or basically be the same still?

I know a few that have spun bearings after doing top end work. Tey also never touched the bottom end but lost bearings.
Seems once you go into the motor you MUST preoil.
Would you recommend upgrading to the LT4 knock module? .
