Okay folks, I read the FAQ and looked at the wheel offset info but simply want to know....Do I need to do anything special in order to go from factory C-4 wheels to C-5 or C-6 wheels? And if I were to upgrade to different generation's factory style wheel, is it considered insulting to other Vette Owners?
My wife bought me an 85' Coupe for Valentine's Day and I've found all kinds of wheel deals around here but chickened out because I wasn't sure they'd fit right. I'm not an idiot (most of the time), just not real mechanically inclined. Thanks for any help.

on an 85 you need spacers or the early style offset. many ebay vendors offer the early offset which will bolt right on your car. the later ones will bolt up without spacers but the offset is way off.
Man, I only got a box of chocolates and a card. If you use 88-04 wheels, you will need a 1" adaptor all the way around. 05 and up, have an even higher offset so an adaptor even bigger would be needed on the rears. 3/4 adaptor is the correct size but are more expensive and harder to find. 1" will do just fine in the years I posted. Correct offset with a 9.5" wheel is +38 unless as stated above you go to a 11" wide rear which a +36.5 would be correct and these would not need any spacing.
Thanks everyone, that is EXACTLY what I needed to know. As far as it being a heck of a Valentines Day gift.... I agree. It was awesome. But then it kinda makes up for my show truck that I sold so that she could have the wedding she wanted with all of the bells and whistles. Ha!
Seriously though, thanks all. Now I can get this car on some nice wheels.
